MoonBench aluminum campervan bench
Moon Bench is our first campervan bench. We wanted it to be simple and strong, with every centimeter inside put to good use. Two spacious drawers at the front, storage under the seat and a frame color that matches the rest of your Moon furniture.

Fits any van with enough space.
Moon Bench isn't designed for one specific vehicle. It can be installed in, among others, the Mercedes Sprinter, Volkswagen Crafter, MAN TGE, Ford Transit, Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Iveco Daily, Renault Master, Opel Movano and Toyota Proace Max. Before ordering, just check that your van has room for the dimensions listed below.
Seat and storage in one
Moon Bench has been designed to combine a comfortable seat with generous storage space. The soft seat and backrest work well for meals, work or relaxing, and all the space underneath is there for your gear.
Under the seat cushions there are two independent aluminum lids. Each has a finger hole that makes it easy to open, and magnets in the frame hold it in place. The lid won't open by itself, even on bumpy roads.
This means you can:
- open the left or right compartment independently
- reach inside from the top without pulling out the drawers
- pull out the drawers without removing the cushions
Both sides of the bench also have bungee cord storage, just like in our kitchens. It's a handy place for a towel, a water bottle, a magazine or flip-flops.
Drawers that do the job
Moon Bench has two drawers with a total capacity of approx. 158 liters. The drawers run on full-extension ball-bearing slides, giving you access to the entire interior.
Inside you'll find aluminum dividers, the same as in Moon Kitchen. They let you split the drawer into smaller sections and can be removed when needed.
Each drawer is secured with two lever locks. The front sits tight against the frame, so the drawer won't open while driving.
What fits inside?
Pretty much everything you need day to day:
- a portable toilet (with the divider removed)
- a water supply
- bedding, towels, clothes
- shoes and outdoor gear
- food and dishes
The compartments are not ventilated, so we don't recommend them for devices that heat up, such as heaters or batteries.
The drawer has been designed to hold a portable toilet up to 34 x 46 x 49 cm (H x W x D). It fits, among others, the Thetford Porta Potti 335 and 145, Trelino Origin S, Dometic 972 and Boxio.
The drawer runs on full-extension ball-bearing slides, so you can pull the toilet all the way out and use it without moving anything else in the van. Two lever locks keep the drawer closed while driving, and the toilet stays out of sight until you need it.
Riveted aluminum
Moon Bench is made entirely of riveted aluminum. This keeps it light while making it rigid and resistant to vibration.
When driving, especially on rough terrain, the van body flexes and deforms slightly. Furniture held together with screws gradually loosens as a result. Riveted joints keep the structure unchanged, no matter how many kilometers you drive.
This means:
- more safety
- longer durability
- a quiet ride
Cushions that stay in place
The set includes ready-made cushions with covers: two seats and two backrests. The seat attaches to the frame with snaps, and the bottom cushion has a low-profile nylon hook-and-loop strip sewn in, which doesn't collect dust or sand from the van.
The covers are made of a thick fabric with a PVC coating, resistant to abrasion and spills. It doesn't need washing, just wipe it with a damp cloth. It's the same material we use for Moon Boxes and Moon Organizers, tested by hundreds of thousands of users. The cushions come in three colors: Anthracite, Grey and Brown.
Drawer fronts
The fronts are available in two versions: classic HPL or upholstered, the same as in Moon Kitchen Solid 80. Upholstered fronts are made from cut plywood, covered with foam and finished with the same fabric as Moon Boxes and Moon Organizers. Available colors: Anthracite, Grey, Brown.

Consistent design across the Moon lineup
The frame is powder-coated in the same colors as other Van Der Moon furniture: RAL 9001, RAL 7033, RAL 1019, RAL 7021. This way Moon Bench matches the rest of your build, resists scratches and keeps its looks for years.
Bench installation
Moon Bench is delivered in a compact package, ready for self-assembly with rivets. You'll need a rivet gun for assembly and a drill/driver to fix the bench in your van.
The bench is fixed to the floor with screws or to airline rails. If you plan to store heavier items inside, we recommend through-bolting it to the floor.
The bench has no backrest frame, so it is placed against the bulkhead or a side wall, which supports the backrest cushions.

Frequently asked questions
Which toilet fits in the drawer?
Any portable toilet up to 34 x 46 x 49 cm (H x W x D), such as the Thetford Porta Potti 335 and 145, Dometic 972, Trelino Origin S or Boxio. Remove the divider before putting the toilet in.
Does the bench have a backrest?
Moon Bench has no backrest frame. The backrest cushions lean against the wall, so the bench should be placed against the bulkhead or a side wall of the van.
Can I sit on the bench while driving?
No. Moon Bench is designed for use while parked. It has no seat belts and is not type-approved, so it can only be used when the vehicle is stationary.
Will the drawers open while driving?
No. Each drawer has two lever locks that hold it tight against the frame.
Can I buy the bench without cushions?
Yes. The same bench is also available as Moon Bench without cushions.
Can I keep a battery or power station inside?
They will fit, but the compartments are not ventilated, so we don't recommend them for devices that heat up. They're great for water, food or clothes.
Can the toilet stay in a closed drawer for a long time?
Yes, but the drawer is not ventilated. During longer stays, we recommend pulling out the drawer and lifting the toilet lid to let the air circulate.
Can the covers be washed?
There's no need. The PVC-coated fabric is spill-resistant and only needs wiping with a damp cloth.
How do I fix the bench in my van?
With screws to the floor or to airline rails. If you plan to store heavier items inside, we recommend through-bolting it to the floor.
